Nepal, nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, is accessible by air and land. However, flying is the most convenient and recommended way to reach this beautiful country. Here’s a breakdown of your options:

Flying:

Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM): This is the only international airport in Nepal, located in Kathmandu, the capital city. Many airlines operate flights to Kathmandu from major cities around the world, including Delhi, Bangkok, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Doha, and Istanbul.

Flight Time: Depending on your origin city, the flight time can vary from a few hours to over 12 hours.

Visa on Arrival: Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. Ensure you have the necessary documents like your passport, a completed visa application form, and two passport-sized photos. Check current visa requirements and fees on the official Nepal immigration website https://www.immigration.gov.np/

Connecting Flights: If flying from a city not directly connected to Kathmandu, you might need to take connecting flights from Delhi, Bangkok, or other regional hubs.

Budget Airlines: Several budget airlines operate flights to Kathmandu, offering competitive fares. However, be mindful of baggage allowances and additional fees that may apply.

Nepal, with Kathmandu serving as its primary international aviation hub (Tribhuvan International Airport – TIA), offers seamless access for global travelers. For overland adventurers, two key entry points from China – Tatopani Border and Kerung Border – facilitate entry and exit, complete with essential immigration facilities for visa procedures. These borders are particularly popular for Chinese citizens visiting Nepal, though all nationalities can utilize them.

Similarly, India provides four primary overland gateways into Nepal, each equipped with immigration offices for efficient visa processing.
