Gokyo Lake Express Trek 11 Days

The drive from Kathmandu to Manthali is about 130 kilometers and takes about 3 hours and 50 minutes via Mid-Hill High Way.

The drive starts early in the morning, around 2 or 3 am, so you can expect to arrive in Manthali just in time for your 6:30 or 7 am flight to Lukla.
We meet the rest of our crew, arrange our baggages, have breakfast, and embark on a journey to Monjo, passing exciting suspension bridges and tiny village settlements following the Dudh Koshi river.

Morning:

National Park Headquarters: Start your day early with a visit to the National Park Headquarters at the top of the village for stunning mountain views. This will be a great way to acclimatize and start your day with a dose of fresh air and breathtaking scenery.
Khumjung and Khunde: If you’re feeling energetic, consider a short hike to the picturesque twin villages of Khumjung and Khunde. These villages offer charming traditional architecture, historic monasteries, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Afternoon:

Relaxation: Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere of Namche Bazaar. Take a stroll through the village, grab a coffee at a local cafe, or simply unwind in your hotel.
Evening:

Enjoy the nightlife: Namche Bazaar offers a variety of lively bars and restaurants. Enjoy a delicious meal, socialize with fellow travelers, and experience the unique nightlife scene of this mountain village.

The trail climbs up from Namche Bazaar and then contours around the hillside, offering great views including Everest and Khumjung. It then ascends along the lower slopes of Khumbila, branching northwest of the Everest trail and continuing up the Dudh Koshi Valley. It climbs steeply to the tiny village of Mong La (built around an ancient chorten), then drops to Phortse Thenga before climbing through a pine and rhododendron forest and on up to Dole – from where there are marvellous views of snow capped peaks. Look out for spotted deer, Himalayan Tahrs and birds – including the colourful (male) Danphe pheasant (Nepal’s national bird).

The total distance of the trek is approximately 11 kilometers and it should take about 5-6 hours to complete. The trail is well-maintained and there are no technical sections, but it is important to be in good physical condition as there is a significant amount of elevation gain.

The trek from Dole to Machhermo is a gradual uphill climb, following the Dudh Koshi River valley. The path is mostly grassy and easy to follow, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Cho Oyu. Along the way, you will pass through the villages of Lhabarma and Luza.

The total distance of the trek is approximately 12 kilometers and it should take about 5-6 hours to complete. The trail is well-maintained but can be challenging in some sections, especially due to the altitude. Be sure to acclimatize properly before attempting the trek and to bring plenty of water, snacks, and warm clothing.

This day you will embark on the final leg of your journey to Gokyo Village, a scenic and relatively easy trek with breathtaking views.
