Detail Itinerary

Upon your arrival in our enchanting country, you will enter through the welcoming gates of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A dedicated representative from our team will be there to ensure your smooth transition and transfer you to your hotel, where your exploration of the wonders of Nepal will begin.

Today, in Kathmandu, assuming your tour starts at 9 am:

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Start your day with a visit to the Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. Witness the sacred rituals along the Bagmati River and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. It takes about 54 minutes to walk from Thamel Marg to Pashupatinath Temple via Bhagawati Marg, so be sure to factor that in when planning your morning.

10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Head to the iconic Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world. Spin the prayer wheels, marvel at the painted eyes watching over you, and soak in the vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture. The walk from Pashupatinath Temple to Boudhanath Stupa via Boudhadwar Marg is about 2 hours and 9 minutes, so you might want to consider taking a taxi or rickshaw to save some time.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant near Patan Durbar Square, savoring traditional Nepali cuisine like Dal Bhat or Momos. There are many great options to choose from in this area, so take your time and explore.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Immerse yourself in the artistic grandeur of Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore ancient temples, intricate courtyards, and beautiful palaces like the Krishna Mandir. Don’t forget to visit the nearby Golden Gate (Sun Dhoka) at Durbar Square, said to be the entrance to heaven.

2:00 PM onwards: Dedicate the rest of the afternoon to preparing for your Tamang Heritage Trek. Get fitted for trekking gear, stock up on supplies, and finalize your transportation and accommodation arrangements. This will ensure you have everything you need for a smooth and enjoyable trek.

Awaken early and commence your journey by driving northwest through Balaju. Ascend steadily to the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, reaching the pass at Kakani. As you continue winding upward towards the Trisuli bazaar, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Manaslu Massif, Ganesh, Langtang, and Jugal Himal. Brace yourselves for some uneven terrain, as the road from Trisuli onwards begins to deteriorate. Navigate through these conditions for approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) to Dhunche, followed by an additional 15 kilometers (9 miles) to Syabrubesi. Tonight’s lodging awaits in a modest teahouse.

As today’s adventure kicks off with a two-hour ascent marked by a series of switchbacks at the trail’s outset. The effort is rewarded when you reach a vantage point offering breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal, the Gosainkunda range, and Langtang Lirung. The trail is adorned with Buddhist Chortens and mani walls, adding an extra layer of charm to the already picturesque landscape.

After descending for approximately 45 minutes, you’ll arrive at the quaint Tamang village of Goljung, where a lunch break awaits. Continue your trek for 2.5 hours to reach another Tamang village named Gatlang, situated at an elevation of 2238 meters. Beyond its evident cultural richness and stunning setting, Gatlang is home to a 100-year-old Tamang monastery and the concealed Parvati Kunda, a secret lake. Legend has it that this lake was discovered in ancient times by the King of Gatlang while searching for a missing hunting dog. Today, it is revered by women for its perceived ability to enhance fertility. Your journey will lead you to each of these landmarks along the way.

Today is widely acknowledged as the most challenging day of the trek, but the rewards far surpass the strenuous part. Begin the day by descending gradually along a ridge to the Bamdang Khola, which turns north along the Chilime Khola until you reach the town of Chilime (approximately 2 hours). Following the crossing of a suspension bridge (always a fun experience), brace yourself for a demanding climb of about 450 meters to the village of Gongang. This steep uphill ascent will take around 1.5 hours, but a well-deserved lunch break awaits upon arrival.

The subsequent section is notably less physically demanding, as you continue the ascent for approximately 2 hours until you reach Tatopani at an elevation of 2607 meters.

Embark on a captivating journey through an enchanting rhododendron forest clinging to the mountainside, where vines and moss-covered trees may be home to troops of gray langur monkeys. Pass through the village of Brimdang, then ascend the side of the highest and steepest part of the trail. Each ridge traversed offers increasingly spectacular views of Ganesh Himal to the west and the Langtang range to the east.

The ridgeline concludes atop the expansive grasslands of Nagthali Hill, situated at 3210 meters and approximately 45 minutes from Brimdang. Suddenly, you find yourself surrounded by breathtaking vistas of Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma on the Tibetan side, and the Sanjen Ranges before you. Take time to absorb the scenery, visit the monastery, and relish the sense of accomplishment. Following this, embark on an approximately 900-meter descent through deep woodlands to Thuman, which faces the majestic Shisapangma and Langtang Lirung peaks (approximately 45 minutes).

Thuman exhibits a distinct Tibetan influence, evident in its Shamanistic beliefs, ancient monasteries, and houses adorned with intricate woodcarvings.

Embark on a descent through dense woodlands, revealing panoramic views of the Shisapangma and Langtang Lirung peaks (approximately 45 minutes). The village of Thuman, characterized by a distinct Tibetan influence evident in its Shamanistic beliefs, ancient monasteries, and houses adorned with intricate woodcarvings, serves as a captivating backdrop.

Continue your journey, passing through rhododendron forests and meadows, to reach the Tamang village of Briddim nestled in the heart of the Langtang Himal. The uphill walk will take just over 2 hours. Briddim, marking the culmination of the Tamang Heritage Trail, is often a highlight for many travelers. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to stay overnight in a teahouse owned by a local family, resting in their comfortable wooden rooms. This experience offers a deeper understanding of the local culture, providing a chance to share stories with your hospitable hosts.

Press on along the trail through the undulating terrain of Khangjim and Sherpagoan, immersing yourself in the rich cultures of the Tamang and Sherpa communities. Over the course of approximately 7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at tonight’s guesthouse. Lama Hotel, comprising a collection of guesthouses, serves as the gateway to the Langtang Valley. While the accommodation standards at Lama Hotel may be slightly below the usual standard on this journey, they still offer a comfortable respite for the night.

Embark on an ascent through Langtang National Park, passing through Gumnachowk and Ghotatabela, ultimately arriving at the village of Langtang (approximately 5–7 hours). Established in 1976, Langtang National Park aims to preserve the unique flora and fauna of the region. The temperate conditions foster the thriving of rhododendron, Nepalese alder, and oak forests. The park is also a habitat for red pandas, Himalayan black bears, snow leopards, and over 250 species of birds. Conclude your day by spending the evening at a newly constructed guesthouse.

Begin your morning by tracing the trail towards the reconstructed village of Kyanjin. The path is adorned with breathtaking views of distant snow-capped mountains on both sides. Along today’s trek, you’ll encounter the daily lives of Tamang and Sherpa inhabitants. The hiking duration for today is approximately 4–5 hours. As evening descends, take the opportunity to acclimatize with a short climb above the village, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

Today, you have the freedom to choose how to spend your time. After breakfast, you can opt for an invigorating walk to Kyanjin Ri (4600 meters) for a spectacular view of the mountains. This challenging 2-hour hike follows a switchback trail in the dark, gaining about 750 meters of elevation along the way.

If you prefer a more leisurely morning, you can sleep in, enjoy a relaxing breakfast, and then venture out to explore the village. Take the opportunity to learn more about the lifestyles of the Tamang and Sherpa communities. Alternatively, consider visiting a local cheese factory to savor Nak cheese (not Yak cheese, as Yak refers to the male). Keep an eye out for the German Bakery! Another option is to take a short hike up to the glacier or explore one of the several interesting walks around the village.

It’s worth noting that tomorrow will involve a substantial downhill walk back to Lama Hotel.

Following breakfast, commence your descent down the trail via Langtang and Ghoretabela, ultimately reaching Lama Hotel. Expect approximately 7 hours of trekking, descending 1600 meters. The rewarding journey downhill concludes with the opportunity to enjoy a ‘mountain cold’ Sherpa beer (subject to availability), providing a refreshing cap to your day.

Embrace another early start, and after breakfast, begin your descent down the trail meandering through corn fields. Cross the Trisuli River using a suspension bridge and continue following the river for approximately 5 hours until you reach your lodge in Thulo Syabru.

Today, following breakfast, embark on a 5-hour walk from Syabru Besi to Dhunche. Subsequently, drive from Dhunche Bazaar to Kathmandu to conclude the day’s journey.

After a long day of trekking, take a well-deserved rest in Kathmandu. Alternatively, you can explore the bustling streets of Thamel or visit some tourist spots. Use this time for small shopping, perhaps picking up souvenirs for family or friends. Enjoy a leisurely day in Kathmandu to unwind and make the most of your time in the vibrant city.

Today, you have free time until your flight departure. Three hours before your scheduled flight, we will escort you to the hotel for the final arrangements before you embark on your journey back to your home country or other destinations.
